Hard Ball advertizes it wont be fooled but on a recent show the guest said cell phones can't be traced?

He said foreign cell phones in the US are untrackable. example:If you are in the US and have a cell phone from Italy your phone uses the same CDMA and towers as US phones only the phone number is long distsnce and charges higher . What do you think?

That is false. All cell phones can be traced to at least the tower they are using. Most have GPS location sharing for emergency calls, and can be pinpointed to the exact address the call is being made from. Many cell phones have the option of turning this feature "off", but when calling 911 the feature automatically turns itself back on. You can in almost every situation trace the cell phone signal to at least the nearest tower. The only exception, which is the actual reason cell phones are not allowed on airplanes, is in flight. Calls can not be traced, and can not be billed.

they can tell what tower you are closer to and triangulate the location of the phone if they belive that there is suficent evidence to try to find you but if you are constantly moving it will be difacult to find you and you can always ditch the phone.

It's TV. They say whatever they think sounds good. Most of the time they have no idea.
