A newspaper actually covers news... a full range of news of interest to its readers ... and has broad appeal. A newsletter is designed generally to report news on a specific topic to a select group of people interested. I mean, anyone can create a newsletter. You have a book club? You can create a newsletter telling people about the latest books read, how they were received, even how members of the club are doing and when the next meeting is. You belong to a lodge or something, same deal. Get the diff? The extreme specificity of a newsletter separates it from a newspaper.

A tabloid differs from a newspaper in that it presents the most outrageous of news storys and mostly relating to celebrities. Michael Jackson: Is a sex change in the offing? Brittney Spears never plans to grow her hair back again. As opposed to being little sidebars in the newspaper, these stories make the front page headlines and ARE the newspaper.

Newsletters are short with short news blurbs. A tabloid is a small size newspaper full of gossip. A regular newspaper is the normal.
